About Us

How it came about?
The lure of the lake is impossible to resist and on my first journey to Pokhara in the mid 1990’s on a perfect October afternoon made for T-shirts and/or shorts I went paddling with friends off lakeside with nothing more than a serendipity mood.
As the magic of the mountains and water settled I found myself saying “I’d love to build and live down here”
Within months I found I was working in Nepal and several years later
I had bought an idealic piece of land perched above the lake.
With help from a good friend Tandi Sherpa, architects then builders commenced. The design had been in my minds eye for many years after visiting a luxury Island resort (Lizard Island) off the east coast of Queensland / Australia where I saw a “conch” shell shaped building. The idea and design was captivating and with abundant supplies of river stone available and willing labor & fine stone masons the idea of my own unique residence was cemented.
No building can escape the many Hindu rituals as you progress from foundations, front door to roof and this was combined with my preference of consecrated Buddha statues filled with rice grains blessed by no less than 4 Rinpoche’s residing in Monasteries in Boudhanath (Kathmandu). Each Buddha set deep in foundations one in each of the four cardinal directions.
Over 30 months and with the toil of bring all supplies by boat and hand from Lakeside a magnificent property was manifest. Gardens emerged and a dream was finally realised – Stonehaven.

Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn’t do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbour. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore, Dream, Discover.

Why do you stay here and live this mean toiling life when a glorious existence is possible for you? These same stars twinkle over other fields than these.
